Singapore, 21 October 2004 - SecureAge Technology announces the latest release of SecureAge® SecureEmail 3.1 today. New improved features have been added to SecureAge® SecureEmail 3.1, a core component of SecureAge® client solution, to fortify the security for critical information and document exchange via email. It allows all organizations to perform secure email transmission anytime and anywhere, thereby ensuring the authenticity, integrity and privacy of the emails. The improved SecureAge® SecureEmail 3.1 helps various organizations to fulfill government privacy regulations in HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) and GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999) or corporate governance in SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002) with its authentication and encryption capabilities. It therefore saves organizations from unexpected legal costs or potential damages due to non-compliance. Besides S/MIME V2 and V3, the new SecureAge® SecureEmail 3.1 is also able to transparently sign and encrypt email based on the latest S/MIME v3.1. S/MIME (Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) provides cryptographic security services for email applications to encrypt and decrypt emails to ensure authentication, message integrity, non-repudiation and data confidentiality. The support for the latest S/MIME v3.1 also comes with email compression capability that significantly reduces standard email message and attachment (like word document, excel worksheet and text file) by 70 percent. A small email size greatly reduces the data processing time at the encryption stage and speeds up the network transmission in an environment with slower network bandwidth. It helps organizations to save not only the storage consumption of their hard disk or server but also the hassle of reprocessing emails for efficient storage. The new SecureAge® SecureEmail 3.1 resolves a common problem faced by most organizations - their users are unable to decrypt all the archive emails because of renewed encryption keys. SecureAge® SecureEmail 3.1 enables access to unlimited key history and automatically selects the correct key for users to decrypt any of their past emails. In the event of employee’s resignation or secure email system’s migration to newer encryption algorithms or purging of old encryption keys to insert new ones into the smart card, SecureAge® SecureEmail 3.1 is able to help organizations to re-encrypt old emails with new encryption keys easily with its powerful migration tool. All they need to do is to use the old key for a one time migration and immediately discard it after use. After the migration, the emails in the email server and the archive folders will be encrypted with the new keys and the old key will no longer be needed. Furthermore, it also allows users to encrypt confidential emails that are received in plain for secure storage on their laptop, desktop or server. Apart from email content and attachment, email header (comprising of the email subject line and the names of the sender and recipients) when send in plain, is equally vulnerable to unwanted tampering. The new SecureAge® SecureEmail 3.1 ensures email integrity by securely encrypting and signing not only the email content but also the email header. It will check and verify the integrity of the encrypted email header by matching it with the email header appears in the inbox mail folder view. It will then alert the recipient if any discrepancies are found. “SecureAge® SecureEmail is a readily deployable and easy-to-use security platform. It can be integrated seamlessly with all mainstream email software like Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger and Eudora and even enterprise webmail system like Outlook Web Access, Domino Web Mail and Sun Messaging Server,” said Dr Ngair Teow Hin, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SecureAge Technology. “We also support public webmail system like Hotmail and Yahoo Mail. It all depends on the organizations’ email platforms and requirements. We can even help them to add email security features on top of the standard S/MIME email client or incorporate their own secure email business logics or integrate their proprietary encryption algorithms into SecureAge® SecureEmail.” SecureAge® SecureEmail 3.1 provides strong support for digital signature and encryption with unlimited key length which enables email to remain securely encrypted, from the point of its transmission up to the point when it is stored on the desktop, laptop or server. It also offers organizations the flexibility of securing either their email or webmail system or both, depending on their needs. It is therefore the ideal solution for organizations that need to secure their current email client as well as their webmail platform in their future migration. With SecureAge® SecureEmail, organizations no longer need to purchase two separate solutions to secure their email and webmail systems, thereby helping them to reduce their investment cost significantly.
