SecureAge Technology participated in last week’s Cyber Investigators’ Challenge 2019 by sponsoring 100 goodie bags for the event, including 2-years license for SecureAPlus Premium (worth S$50). The event, which was organised by Ministry of Home Affair (MHA) and Singapore Cybersecurity Consortium, finally concluded on Tuesday, 16 July 2019 at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre Level 5. It was held in conjunction with the RSA Conference 2019 Asia Pacific and Japan.
The challenge featured pairs in 50 teams from junior colleges, polytechnics, and universities, tasked to outwit the “criminals” in real-life scenarios across different platforms, such as computers and Internet of Things (IoT). Racing through time, these teams competed against each other to find evidence, close investigations, earn points and win the challenge.
This competition came in light of the rise of cybersecurity threats in 2018 which grew alongside our dependence on digital devices and internet, with many of the cases went unreported or under reported. There is a growing concern from the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore that the nation might soon find itself facing shortage of professionals against these unwanted cyber-attacks. Organisers hope to groom the next generations’ cybersecurity analysts and investigators to prepare them against these threats and to develop more secure devices and service.
