SecureAge’s APEX engine uses machine learning to recognize zero-day and mutated threats that are traditionally undetectable.
May 14, 2019 -
SecureAge Technology, a data security and encryption solution provider for enterprise businesses and end users, today announced the integration of its APEX anti-malware engine into
VirusTotal, a Chronicle product, and free online service that aggregates many anti-malware products and other scanning engines to check for malware and malicious content. The submission of files, URLs, domains, etc. to VirusTotal helps to raise global cybersecurity understanding.
SecureAge APEX is an anti-malware scanning engine powered by artificial intelligence, designed to extend the detection capabilities of the SecureAge SecureAPlus endpoint protection platform (EPP). The APEX engine provides next-generation endpoint detection alongside other SecureAPlus features, such as application control, application whitelisting, multi-cloud anti-virus, fileless attack protection and more. To deal with advanced threats like zero-day malware, APEX goes beyond traditional scanners by using machine learning to identify unseen and mutated malware types and variants from day one of their releases.
“As part of the VirusTotal network, our priority is to champion the value that the APEX engine can bring to users in keeping them informed and protected from existing and unknown malware types,” said Dr. Teow-Hin Ngair, CEO, SecureAge Technology. “We hope that this integration is also a testament to our commitment to become a major contributor to the overall cybersecurity community.”
The APEX engine combines deep learning technology to better understand potential threats independent of reliance on signatures. Within VirusTotal, APEX will target Windows PE files.

About SecureAge Technology
SecureAge Technology is a rapidly growing data security company that places security and usability on equal footing. Headquartered in Singapore, we are trusted by governments, research institutes, and forward-thinking organizations to protect them from the most advanced and persistent cyber threats in the world. What makes SecureAge different, is we have built a reputation for data-centric and intuitive security solutions that protect data not only when it is stored, but also when it is in use, and in transit. We’ve achieved this by holding strong reign on our belief that users shouldn’t have to become cybersecurity experts to escape data liabilities. Instead, encryption should be inherent, invisible, and instinctive. To protect data when it is most vulnerable, security must take place at the file-level, operate silently in the background, and support the way in which people collaborate. That’s why our users can divert their resources to focus on other challenges – SecureAge users enjoy 100% file-level security, every file, every place, and every time.
